What was the problem?
The skeletons for Evolve characters used mesh objects instead of bones in order to work properly in CryENGINE. This led to cumbersome methods of making sure that each joint was oriented properly for the animators.
What was the solution?
The Joint Orient tool quickly sets the joint axis of a chain to be consistent while allowing options for down-chain axis and up-axis. There are also buttons for nudging in increments or 180 degrees.
Another notable feature is the ability to smartly mirror a nudge. So if one side of the body were adjusted, it was simple to mirror those changes on the other half.
