What was the problem?
The animators wanted to add leaning to their run animations so that spectator mode would look a bit better, but they knew they would not have time to author the assets.
What was the solution?
Bogus Banking was written in less than a day so that production time would not be a concern. The tool finds existing animations in a scene based on the name match field. When it finds a match, it duplicates the sequence’s keys and applies the lean and arc angle to the pelvis, spine and head, creating the bank animation. Lastly, the tool adds the new animation entries to be used with the Character Animation Exporter.
In Max, the feet will clip through the floor when more extreme angles are used; however this is compensated for in-game through the IK setup.
